SULEYMANIYE MOSQUE
The Suleymaniye Complex, consisting of a
large number of courtyards and a caravansarai, was constructed
starting on June 13, 1550 through October 15, 1557 by Architect
Sinan (the grand old master of Ottoman architecture).

SEHZADE COMPLEX
Sehzade Complex (Külliye) was built for
Prince Mehmet, the son of the Süleiman the Magnificient whom he
liked the most and ideally thought to enthrone him. Although the
construction date of the complex was never precisely known, it
was written on the Sarcophagus of Prince Mehmet that “the mosque
was completed in the month of Recep in 1543

RUSTEM PASA MOSQUE
The Rüstem Paşa Mosque was built
by a famous Croatian, Rüstem Pasha (1500-1561), one of the Grand
Viziers of the Ottoman Empire and married to the daughter of
Sultan Süleyman the Magnificent, Mihrimah Sultan. In 1561, it
was designed by Mimar Sinan ("Sinan the Architect") for Grand
Vizier Rüstem Pasha using a style that is very different from
the simplicity of Sinan the Architect and that period.

FIRUZ AGA MOSQUE
The mosque, located on Divanyolu,
just in front of the Tramway Station of Sultanahmet, was built
by Firuz Ağa, head treasurer of Sultan Bayezit II. (1447- 1512)
in 1491. It has a square plan with a dome and reflects Bursa
style. It was built from cut stone and placed on an octagonal
tambour. Windows composed of distichous with two and the
inscription belongs to Şeyh Hamdullah Efendi. The arcade porches
of the mosque are not in contrast with the Classical Ottoman
Architecture.

SULTANAHMET MOSQUE COMPLEX
It
is located in front of the Hagia Sophia, in the Eminönü district
of Istanbul. The architect of the complex is Sedefkar Mehmed Aga,
who was appointed the head architect after Sinan the Architect’s
death. The Sultan Ahmed Complex is one of the greatest complexes
in Istanbul.

ORTAKOY MOSQUE
The Ortakoy Mosque is situated on
the waterside of the Ortaköy pier square in the Beşiktaş
District, one of the most popular locations on the Bosphorus.
The mosque was built on the order of Abdulmecid (1839-1861), the
ruler of the Ottoman Empire, and was constructed by the Nigoğos
Balyan in 1853. It was during the same century that the mosque
rose to a higher level of importance on the European side of
Istanbul. It is also known as “Great Mecidiye Mosque” and is one
of the most beautiful samples of the Baroque architecture in
Istanbul.

DOLMABAHCE MOSQUE
Dolmabahçe Mosque’s original construction
was initiated by Bezm-i Alem Valide Sultan, the mother of Sultan
Abdülmecid (1823-1861). Upon her death, it’s construction was
continued by her son. It is located in the southern part of the
Dolmabahce Palace, situated on the coast. The mosque was opened
for prayer services on March 23rd, 1855. Its architect is
Garabet Balyan, a member of the Balyan family who built various
structures for the Ottoman Empire.

FATIH COMPLEX
The Fatih Complex is the first complex built after the conquest
of Istanbul by Sultan Mehmed II in 1453. It extends over a large
area and is located on Fevzi Paşa Street. It is a very large
complex, which includes a mosque, a madrasah (religious school),
a daruşşifa (hospital), a Turkish bath, a bazaar, a library, and
the tombs.

LALELI COMPLEX
The Laleli Complex is located at the intersection of Ordu and
Fethi Bey Streets in the Laleli Neighborhood of the Eminönü
district. It consists of a mosque (cami), madrasa (medrese),
fountain (çeşme), sabil, soup-kitchen (imaret), a room for the
timekeeper of the mosque (muvakkithane), and a han. The
complex’s construction began with the mosque, whose foundation
was laid on April 5, 1760, during the rule of Sultan Mustafa III
(1717-1774).
