ISTANBUL
DOLMABAHCE PALACE
The
Dolmabahçe Palace, a blend of various European architectural styles, was
built between 1843-1856 by Karabet Balyan, the court architect of Sultan
Abdulmecid. The Ottoman sultans had many palaces in all ages, but the
Topkapi was the official residence until the completion of the Dolmabahce
Palace.

ISTANBUL BEYLERBEYİ PALACE
Beylerbeyi,
built under Sultan Abdülaziz by another member of the talented Balyan family
of architects in the European style of Dolmabahçe, was the second palace to
be built on the Bosphorus and served as a summer residence and guest
quarters for visiting bey (dignitaries) during their visits to the city.

ISTANBUL KÜÇÜK SU PAVILLION
Kücuksu
Pavilion was commissioned by Sultan Abdülmecid I (1823-1861) and was
designed and constructed by the Armenian-Turkish architect, Sarkis Balyan,
in Baroque style in 1856. There had previously been a "Bostancı Ocağı"
(Bostancı: person in-charge of the land plot for
farming fruits and vegetables and of protecting the Bosphorous Ocak:
regiment of the Ottoman army) on its building site.

ISTANBUL MASLAK SU PAVILLION
The
Maslak Pavilion is located on Büyükdere Street, at the intersection of
Istinye and Tarabya. The pavilion was built during the reign of Sultan
Mahmut II, the 30th Sultan of the Ottoman Empire, but its construction
wasfinished, with the addition of another building during the reign of
Sultan Abdülaziz (1861-76), the 32nd sultan of the Ottoman Empire.

ISTANBUL YILDIZ ŞALE
Yıldız
Palace and park covered an area of 500,000 square metres on the hillside
overlooking the Bosphorus between Beşiktaş, Ortaköy and Balmumcu. This area
of natural woodland became known as Kazancıoğlu Park after the Turkish
conquest, and probably became an imperial estate during the reign of Sultan
Ahmed I (1603-1617).

ISTANBUL IHLAMUR PAVILLION
The
Ihlamur Pavilion is located at the intersection of Nüzhetiye Street between
Ihlamur and Tesvikiye and has an area of about 25,000 square meters. It is
mentioned in some sources that in the middle of the 18th century, there had
previously been a kiosk on the site that that belonged to Hüseyin Efendi.
